The Master's Certificate in Project Management is an outstanding program that covers the fundamentals of the internationally accepted Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK™) in a format that appreciates the severe time limitations of today’s corporate employees. This program provides high quality training for 2 or 3 days, every second/third week over a course of four (4) months. It gives you proven ways to meet the daily challenges of project management by teaching the techniques and practices for managing projects of all sizes and degrees of complexity, as well as principles and methods of project management. Program Dates & Content
COURSE #1: 1-Day
PROGRAM INTRODUCTION AND PROJECT INTEGRATION
This first day will begin building the foundation of the certificate program and prepare all students for the next 4 months. We present an overview of the knowledge areas of project management as defined by the Project Management Institute and others.
We present the first module: Project Integration and we review all other modules. As well, the project simulation that is used throughout the program is introduced, teams are established and we
hold the first bidder’s conference.
COURSE #2: 3-Days
PROGRAM PLANNING AND CONTROL
Planning and control are two of the most important elements of a project manager’s role. The development of a management plan that is feasible and agreed upon by all concerned is an art.
Once the management plan is set, the development of a detailed work plan incorporating resources, schedules and budgets becomes crucial. This course will focus on the fundamentals of the planning, scheduling and control.

COURSE #3: 2-Days
PROJECT QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Quality is achieved through planning, directing and implementing the actions that are consistent with the concept of doing the right thing right the first time.
A dedicated effort of setting standards for the work, understanding the customer’s requirements and implementing
the requirements in all documentation and actions is needed to infuse quality into projects. Using the tools of quality management to monitor, evaluate, and assess the processes while conducting continuous improvement in the processes is the foundation for achieving quality.
This workshop will review the Quality Management process, introducing tools and techniques for project managers.

EFFECTIVE PROJECT COST MANAGEMENT
The financial management of projects is essential.
Proper estimating at the project definition and approval stage, budgeting, resource costing and allocation and control during the project is vital to its success. This course will lead you through the fundamentals of cost management and control. It will give you the tools required to perform this most important function.

COURSE #5: 2-Days
CONTRACTING AND PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT
Procurement management, negotiation skills and contract management all play a major role in the life of a project manager.
This course will provide the basic tools required for project managers in these areas. Over the 2 days we will guide the participants through
procurement practices, solicitation of bids, contract negotiation and provide a taste of contract law. While detailed in nature, this course will offer anyone an insight into the role of the procurement manager on a project.

COURSE #6: 2-Days
PERSONAL & TEAM COMMUNICATION IN A PROJECT ENVIRONMENT
Successful Project Managers know how to handle the never-ending
challenges of communicating with stakeholders, summarizing performance
results, providing effective information distribution and administrative closure regarding projects.
This course helps participants
develop the interpersonal and team communication skills necessary for
communication transactions in project management.

- Understanding sender-receiver communication dynamics including your personal communication style and the impact you have on communication
- The power and peril of words in project management
- Team development: understanding yourself, stakeholders and other team members involved in the projects you manage

COURSE #7: 2-Days
ASSESSING AND MANAGING PROJECT RISK
This course explores both quantitative and “soft” techniques to identify and analyse project risk factors such as: risk event, event probability and amount of stake.
We will discuss risk response choices and demonstrate software applications as well. Learning will include lecture, small group exercises, individual and pair exercises and software
demonstration.

- How to identify risk events in projects

- How to classify and quantify risks
- How to analyse risks and determine the amount of stake in a given project.

COURSE #8: 2-Days
FILLING IN THE GAPS AND PREPARING FOR THE PMP EXAM
This course is designed as a supplement to the courses in this program.
It will cover material and areas of knowledge required by the PMI Exam and NOT covered in the courses within the Master's Certificate in Project Management program. Special attention will be given to: project integration, leadership and the art of influencing team members, clients and stakeholders. We will also take time to prepare students for the final exam that is written during the last class.

COURSE #9: 2-Days
FINAL EXAM AND PROJECT SIMULATION
Final Exam - Final test spanning all material covered in all sections. Participants will receive their marks on the same day.
Project management concepts come to life in this course, a comprehensive synthesis of core project management principles designed to reinforce knowledge and skills learned throughout the Master's Certificate program.
Participants will build on new competencies and test skills while working in teams to complete an extensive, realistic project case study. Each team will propose, plan, execute and deliver a full-scale project under typical organizational and market constraints. Each team will follow its project through the life
cycle, resolving issues of scheduling, control and performance, as well as, addressing questions of leadership and management. Because it pulls together knowledge and competencies gained in all previous courses, it is intended for project managers who have completed the whole curriculum. We recommend bringing a laptop loaded with
spreadsheet, presentation and project management software such as
MS/Office and MS/Project.
What You Will Learn:
- How to take results from other planning processes and put them into a consistent, coherent document/docket
- How to carry out the project plan by performing the tasks and activities the plan has specified
- How to coordinate changes across the entire project
